Fort Worth Zoo is the oldest zoo in Texas, it was founded in 1909. When the
zoo first opened it only had one lion, two bear cubs, an alligator, a
coyote, a peacock, and a few rabbits. Today the zoo houses more than 5,000
native and exotic animals. Since 1995 the zoo has had 15 permanent exhibits,
some of them are World pf Primates, Asian Falls, Raptor Canyon, Chee-tos
Cheetahs, Flamingo Bay, Meerkat Mounds, Texas Wild, Parrot Paradise, Great
Barrier Reef, and many others. This zoo attracts more than a million
visitors per year.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden was founded in 1933 and was the first-public
relief project in Texas as well as the state's oldest botanical garden. The
garden sits on about 114 acres of land and has themed gardens featuring
roses, fragrance flowers, and perennials. The garden includes more than
2,500 different species both native and exotic. The biggest garden is the
Japanese mediation gardens with 7.5 acres which include koi ponds and tea
gardens. There is also a restaurant on site which serves light fare meals
including sandwiches, soups, salads, and pastas. Don't forget the gift shop
